Happy Ash Wednesday!

As many of you know, today is Ash Wednesday, the start of the Lenten season. So we avoided any beef, pork, turkey or chicken. We've decided that this year we are going to give up soda again this year.

The good news, is that this season ends on Easter, which is early this year, March 23rd.

So what are you giving up for Lent?

Too bad it dosn't end a couple of days earlier so you could have a Jack and diet or a beer on your birthday, March 22nd :-(

We only said soda...not beer.

I am confused, the season ends early, but doesn't it start early? Isn't lent always 40 days? Or am I way off?

Teri - it's always 40 days. Easter is always the first Sunday after the first full moon of Spring, so it can be as early as March 22nd. This year, Easter is March 23rd, hence the early Ash Wednesday.

The bonus this year is that at least Passover and Lent don't happen at the same time!

Mmmmmm... Jack and diet.... heh

If I were a practicing Catholic, I would have known all of this. I can already feel the flames tickling my backside. Kidding! They've been doing that for years. :)

I think it's great you're giving up soda. I should be giving up my Rockstars. Should being the operative word there.
